Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed drivers at the small Pak Chong minivan terminal quote inflated flat fares to hotels inside Khao Yai National Park, often 2, 3 times the metered rate. Insist on using the official taxi queue or pre-book a licensed transfer through your accommodation.
Some private car operators near the park gates add surprise "park entry" or "guide" surcharges after agreeing on a transport-only price. Confirm in writing that the quoted fare covers only the ride and settle any extras before departure.
Motorbike-rentalike touts at the Pak Chong train station offer low daily rates but later demand payment for non-existent scratches. Photograph the bike from every angle with the renter in the frame and insist on a signed condition report before taking the keys.
